    The Mechanical Engineering Department of I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida successfully inaugurated the 2nd International Conference on “Advancements and Recent Innovations in Mechanical, Production and Industrial Engineering” ARIMPIE-2016 on 15th of April, 2016 in Sardar Patel Auditorium. The ceremony was marked by the presence of patron of the conference, Mr. Sohil Chadha, Director of the institute, Dr. Vineet Kansal, Conference Chair, Dr. Sanjay Yadav, Chief Guest Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director & Country Head Polaris India Pvt Ltd, Guest of Honour Mr. Ravi Shanker Kochak, Addl Member Production Units and Workshops in Railway Board and India Branch Chairman of IMechE UK, Mr. Allwyn Peter, Country Advisor, North India IMechE UK. The conference organizing committee members, distinguished invited speakers from academia & industry, head & respective faculty members from various departments, staff and students of the institute also graced the occasion. The conference has been organized by the Mechanical Engineering Department to bring on a single platform the different persons from academics and industry to have a panel discussion on the recent advancements and innovations achieved in Mechanical, Production and Industrial Engineering areas.
    The session began with the lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. Institute Director, Dr. Vineet Kansal addressed the gathering emphasizing on the need to have such events and describing its relevance to the researchers in academics and industry. He highlighted that interdisciplinary approach in academic arena is the need of hour and the Industry and academia must adopt an integrated approach for the effective utilization of innovative practices. Conference Chair, Dr. Sanjay Yadav described the theme of the conference. He emphasized that there is an urgent need of pursuing advanced and innovative research in the field of Mechanical Engineering and its allied branches as it is one of the most versatile and vibrant department that affects the life of the people at different stages. It was told that the main aim of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in Mechanical, Production and Industrial engineering by holding discussion with experts from Industry and Academia together. Therefore, this conference has been a positive platform to meet these requirements with the commitment to foster the exchange of ideas, enhancing teaching methods and curriculum, and providing prime networking opportunities for engineering and technology education stakeholders.
    During this occasion the Department also officially inaugurated the student chapter of IMechE professional society thereby including the college among the list of few premiere engineering institution of the country having professional society of such global repute. Now the students of the institute can learn and involved themselves in co curricular and extracurricular activities at international level.
    On the behalf of the organizing committee, Convener of the conference, Dr. Sanjay Mishra presented the objectives and rigorous paper selection procedures that were followed cumulatively in finalizing the event sessions.
    The Chief Guest Mr. Pankaj Dubey from Polaris India discussed the need of cultivating innovative thinking among the young engineers. He appraised the initiative of I.T.S Engineering College in organizing such events and admitted that interaction of industry with academics is very important in obtaining an overall growth of both the sectors. The Guest of Honour Mr. Ravi Shanker Kochak discussed the scope of innovations and advancements occurred in Indian Railway during the last decade. He suggested the students to inculcate the professional ethics among themselves. Prof. Kumar Dinesh from IIT Roorkee and Prof. Vinod Yadava from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad emphasized the need of adopting the recent advancements as per the Indian perspectives. The IMechE country advisor Mr. Allwyn Peter highlighted the role of professional societies like IMechE in the nation building by providing a common platform to young engineers for demonstrating their inherent technical talent.
    Organizing secretary of the event Mr. Manvendra Yadav presented vote of thanks to all the invited dignitaries and sponsors of the event. Gratitude was also extended to all the faculty members and supporting staff who worked tirelessly to make the event successful.
    On the second day of international conference on Advancement and Recent Innovations in Mechanical, Production and Industrial Engineering (ARIMPIE-2016) Dr. Kantesh Balani from IIT Kanpur delivered a lecture on the use of nanocomposites in bone transplantation. Dr. Siddhartha from NIT Hamirpur presented a research work for manufacturing of gears Functionally Graded Materials gears. During the conference total 40 research papers were presented from the scholars across the nation. The conference was concluded with certificate distribution to the participants
