Inauguration session :
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department of I.T.S. Engineering College, Greater Noida organized a Faculty Development Programme on the topic “Innovative and Advances in Power Systems and Control Engineering. The objective of the event was focused on the enhancement of the quality of the professional performance of the faculty members and implementation of curriculum in their roles as facilitators and to update content knowledge in the respective domains. The event started with the lamp lightning ceremony performed by all the dignitaries, followed by bouquet distribution by our Director Sir, Dr Vineet Kansal to Dr Vijendra Singh (Professor, NSIT-Delhi) and Dr. Asha Rani (Professor, NSIT-Delhi). The conveyor of the event Dr. Vinay Kakkar briefed about the event and its importance and then Dr. Vineet Kansal welcomed the gathering with his inspiring words.
Day 1
Session 1:- Dr. Vijendra Singh
Topic - “Dynamic Simulation and Control of Processes”
He discussed topics such as Development of simulation model for distillation column and its experimental verification, ANN Based Estimator for Distillation Column using Steepest Descent Back Propagation Method, Inferential and predictive Inferential Control of Distillation Column using Online Estimator, ANN Based Estimator for Distillation Column using Levenberg-Marquardt Algorithm, Sensitivity Analysis of Distillation Column and Future Scope of work.
Session 2:- Dr. Asha Rani
Topic - “Inferential and Intelligent Control of Processes”
She extended the previous session by explaining the advances in control of processes and discussed topics such as Development of simulation model for distillation column and its experimental verification, ANN Based Estimator for Distillation Column using Steepest Descent Back Propagation Method, Inferential and predictive Inferential Control of Distillation Column using Online Estimator, ANN Based Estimator for Distillation Column using Levenberg-Marquardt Algorithm, Sensitivity Analysis of Distillation Column, and Future Scope of work
Day 2
Session 1:- Prof from IIT Roorkee Dr. Manoj Tripathi
Topic - “Requirement and contribution of AMR application”
He focused on the topic “Requirement and contribution of AMR application”. In his expert talk he covered the introduction of Automatic Meter Reading, the technology involved in designing the Smart meters. On the topic SMART meters apart from Electrical measurement, he explained how they can be used for Industrial purposes. He suggested many techniques to improve the accuracy of Digital Meters. His session was very interactive session for participants.
Session 2:- Dr. Prerna Gaur from NSIT Delhi
Topic - “Intelligent motion control on Permanent magnet AC motors”
She started her session with classification of Motors and covering advantages and disadvantages of motor designs. She explained different techniques to control the AC motors. The topics discussed were introduction of the PMSM drive system, Modeling and Simulation of the motor and conventional speed controllers, ANN based speed controllers, Introduction to sensorless control of PMSM, EKF based observer of PMSM drive system, ANN based observer of PMSM drive system, and future scope of work.
Day 3
Session 1:- Dr. N. K. Jain (DTU)
Topic - “Particle Swarm Optimization and its application to economical load dispatch and load flow studies”
In his expert talk he covered the introduction of Optimization techniques, the results were displayed by displaying the result by finding solution of problem statement. His session was very interactive session. He introduced the concept of optimization, its application in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. He discussed the problem of economical load dispatch and load flow studies. Application of optimization in real time problems and solving engineering problems.
Session 2:- Prof. (Dr). A. S. Siddiqui
Topic - “Application of SCADA in power system”
He started his topic with the importance of data Acquisition in Industrial purpose. Later he covered the Recent SCADA based power system to meet the need of an hour. He discussed about the concept of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Its application area was discussed. He explained and introduced the concepts, intricate details of SCADA system, its basic structure was explained diagrammatically, SCADA components. He explained about RTU (Remote Terminal Unit), its selection criteria and then future scope of work was discussed.
Day 4
Session 1:- Prof (Dr.) Madan Mohan Tripathi [DTU, Delhi]
Topic - from DTU, Delhi

Session 2:- Dr. G.L. Pahuja
Topic - “Reliablity Engineering , Modeling and Evaluation ” by Dr. G.L.Pahuja ,from NIT Kurukshtra”
He started his talk covering the basics of probability and reliability theory. With the real life examples he explained the importance of Reliability in out daily life.With data analysis from various resources he briefed about importance of Reliability and Fault tolerance . He also covered comparative study of Reliability Modeling & its Need for different systems .
Day 5
Session1 :- Dr. Tariqul Islam,
Topic :- “Surface Acoustic Wave Sensors” from JMI, New Delhi
In his expert talk he started with the parameters of measurement and indicated importance of measurement in our daily life. He discussed all types of Sensors and transducers and their comparative study. Later he discussed in detail about Surface Acoustic Wave Sensors .
Session 2:- Dr. P.C.Pant
Topic :- “Renewable Energy Perspective in India and Energy Storage”
He started his session with an overview of Indian Power Sector . He covered the past status , current status and future Roadmap for renewable energy to meet the Power sector need . He also discussed about Methods of energy storage a recent scope of Research in Power Sector and Non Renewable Energy.
All the sessios were very knowledge enhancing for the faculty members and new for the faculty members. The interactive session ended with the memento and certificate distribution along with vote of thanks by the coordinator of the event Mr. Upendra Agarwal.
