I.T.S UG Campus organized a Faculty Development Programme for School Teachers/Principals/Counselors on the topic of “Emerging Trends in Teaching Pedagogy” on May 13, 2016. Learning is the essence of development and has played a vital role in Human Civilization. It is the ability to learn and teach that has helped human beings to grow and adjust to the various changes in the environment and society. The role of teacher has changed to provide support and negotiate learning tasks and assessments in order to create learner’s autonomy. Assessments are needed to be meaningful, provide feedback to the students on their progress, and provide feedback to professors for modification of course plans. Dr. S. P. Mishra, Chief Advisor, I.T.S – The Education Group, emphasized the need to change the role of teacher into facilitator who can make students to think. Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director- UG campus, urged the participants to adopt newer methods of pedagogy and focus more on issues concentric to students’ problems. Dr. Niva Bhandari, Professor, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon was speaker of the session. She taught the practical approach towards Bloom’s Taxonomy and also taught ways how and where to apply it. She shared many concepts such as flipped classroom, power sharing, improved use of technology with the teachers during the session. More than 50 school teachers/ principals/ counselors participated in this learning endeavor and enjoyed a lot during the session.
